~That you may take leave any time of the year outside of the two choice vacation periods up to percentage allowable:

 

10% of carriers will be granted leave from first full week of April through the week of Labor Day and 10% of carriers will be granted leave from the third week of November through the first full week in January of the New Year.

 

However, during the full week prior to and the full week of Christmas, 3%, will be allowed annual leave.  During June, July and August 11% will be allowed annual leave.  10% of the carriers will be allowed annual leave during the non-choice period.

 

~That PTF' s may use leave as they earn it.

 

~That Full Time City Letter Carriers may use leave when it's credited to their account.  Normally, the USPS will credit Full Time City Letter Carriers with hours that will be earned during the coming year on 1 January.  The leave may be requested even if it doesn't show until the, second pay period, pay check stub.

 

~That posting of choice vacation periods will be completed by January 31 each year.  A Letter Carrier may pass up choice vacation periods and choose vacant periods from January through December.

 

~That vacation periods begin on Monday and end on Sunday.

 

~That the employee may at his/her option request one selection during each choice period in increments of either 5, 10 or 15 working days to which he/she may entitled.   Entitlement is determined by USPS creditable service   ( JCAM page 10 - 3 )

 

~That scheduled vacation may be vacated only if submitted in writing (14) days or more in advance of the beginning of the scheduled annual leave.
