Did you Know...
About the NEW EAP (Employee Assistance Program)? Those of you who are veteran postal employees may think of EAP as a joke because it wasn't as confidential as it was supposed to be. Federal Occupational Health has taken over our EAP program because our Unions negotiated this for us. Now, Counselors and Clinicians are no longer employed by the Postal Service and are governed by the Federal Occupational Health guidelines. Therefore, counseling is completely confidential and the Postal Service cannot strong arm them into providing them or anyone with information without your permission. Our Unions have also negotiated that an EAP Advisory Committee be formed in every district. The committee's are to meet once a month to ensure confidentiality, promote information of EAP services, and review effectiveness of the program. No private information is even released to the Committee's.
EAP services are not only offered to you, but to your family members as well.
You can even request sessions off of postal property.
Your first visit can be on the clock for one hour if you choose to. However, you would have to inform management of the appointment but without description of your needs.
If you are out of town when you feel you need to speak to an EAP counselor, you can call the Nationwide number and set up an appointment at your nearest location.
There is an EAP web site that is cookie free for online support. Take automated surveys, or contact a counselor at WWW.EAP4YOU.COM
The Nationwide number is 1-800-EAP-4-YOU
